Cumberland Island is a tropical paradise of 17 miles boasting pristine and serene beaches, untouched by docks or other structures. Here, visitors will find vegetated dunes making up one of the most important nesting grounds for loggerhead sea turtles in Georgia--a refuge also sought out by migrating shore birds.
While swimming is popular here amongst its waves and waters home to all sorts of animals, safety should be exercised -- no lifeguard on duty! That said however there are designated crossings marked onto maps providing access to this breathtaking beach oasis; whether that be trails or boardwalks dependent upon location but ultimately helping protect those lush landscapes along them too.
